Wall insulation in Melbourne
External walls are a large part of the area through which a home loses heat in winter and gains it in summer. We install wall batts in timber and steel frames for new builds, extensions and renovations across Melbourne.
When wall insulation goes in
Wall batts sit inside the wall frame, so the easiest time to install them is when the frame is open: during a new build, an extension, or a renovation where the plaster or cladding is coming off.
If you're renovating, it's worth insulating any wall you open up. It costs far less to do it then than to come back later.
What we install
We fit batts to the full height and width of each stud bay, cut neatly around windows, power points and pipes, so there are no gaps or compressed sections. Compressed batts lose part of their R-value, so fit matters.
Standard 90 mm stud walls commonly take R2.0 to R2.7 batts. For new work we install to the R-value in your plans or energy report. We can also fit acoustic batts in internal walls at the same time.

We work from your plans and insulation schedule and book in around your pre-plaster inspection, so the walls are ready when the plasterers arrive. See builders and commercial.

Wall insulation: common questions
Can you insulate the walls of an existing home?+
Wall batts need the wall to be open, so in an existing home they usually go in during a renovation, an extension, or when plaster or cladding is being replaced. Tell us what work you're planning and we'll suggest the best time.
Can you do internal walls too?+
Yes. Internal walls are mostly insulated for sound rather than temperature, for example around bedrooms, bathrooms and home offices. See acoustic insulation.
